Cerys Gilbert, 9, from Guyhirn in Cambridgeshire is celebrating after becoming the new National Indoor Driving Champion in the extra young junior class. Driving Pepper, aged 19, with mum Cathy Gilbert on the backstep, Cerys was competing in the national finals at College EC, Keysoe, Bedfordshire. This is Cerys’ first season competing in indoor driving trials and she’s a keen Pony Club rider and experienced showjumper too.

The Indoor Horse Driving Trials final took place at Keysoe on March 29 and is the culmination of the winter season’s fast and furious competitions across the UK. Also doing well at the finals from the East Anglian Carriage Driving Group were Chris Smith in the horse pairs class, Rosemary Neale in the veteran class, Danielle Twitchen in pony teams and Caroline Parkin in intermediate horse who were all reserve.
